Healthway Education System’s As Featured In — MJINews
Of the many industries which are rapidly expanding in the United States, cannabis is arguably the largest. While the plant has secured a steady foothold for medicinal and recreational sale in a number of US States, there are still many which are fighting age-old prohibition laws. Given the varying degrees of legality regarding cannabis in the US, there is a large information gap present in the industry among business professionals. This is especially true in the medical industry, where physicians still tend to prescribe addictive opioids and other medications instead of readily available cannabis products.
In a video shared by Marijuana Industry News, the professionals from Healthway describe this information gap for a large audience attending the World of Cannabis Summit. Drayah Sallis from Healthway starts the presentation by immediately noting, “I have been in the industry for two years… one thing that was always consistent was the knowledge gap in education.” She follows this up by stating, “Healthway was born to bridge that gap between the healthcare professional and the patient.”
While there is a general lack of education for professionals attempting to enter the cannabis space, physicians are at the highest risk for cannabis misinformation because of their sheer focus on treatment rather than business. While many states have employed regulated cannabis programs in order to meet patient needs in their states, many physicians are simply unaware of how to safely incorporate cannabis products into their practices. Healthway looks to inform these physicians by being, as according to Drayah Sallis, “The premier industry leader in accredited medical cannabis information. Keyword: accreditation.
Michelle Lilly-Hester provides more specific information regarding the knowledge gap among physicians in states which have approved medical cannabis programs. According to her, “As new states get on board the medical marijuana programs, there is a knowledge gap between physicians and the knowledge they receive in medical school as it relates to being responsible with the patients asking and demanding for medical marijuana.” She then makes critical points by asking, “They can offer the recommendation but how does that relate to the actual strain that’s needed for the patients, how does it relate to the dosage, and how does it relate to the consumption?” Despite this knowledge gap among physicians, she then goes on to state, “We (Healthway) actually offer that education which helps physicians offer responsible patient care.”
While Healthway’s primary goal is to educate physicians regarding the best modes of cannabis-based treatment options for patients, they also understand the immense marketing opportunity which currently exists. Since cannabis legalization is a contemporary phenomenon, the industry at large is essentially waiting for professionals to stake their claim. Healthway certainly understands this and is looking for certified educators and investors to go out in the world and help them spread their accredited medical cannabis curriculum. With their eyes firmly set on the future, it is clear that Healthway is the cannabis industry standard for responsible patient care.
